Are Chinese Mothers Really Superior ?
Are Chinese Mothers Superior?
Are Chinese Mothers Superior?
At the next Meet2Learn session we will try to gather psychologist, social-workers, educators, parents and young people who have stories to share on their view of what is good parenting.

Do we produce successful children - the Chinese way?

A recent book by a very well-educated Chinese mother claimed that Chinese mothers are superior parents than western parents. She wrote about her experience in raising her 2 daughters in the US. The book has unleashed many comments from different people - including asian children/adults themselves who are raised with high parental expectations. What are they telling us and what has that to do with education in asia?

Chinese New Year is coming soon. It will be the year of the rabbit. It is time to think about another XO party that we have been doing for the last 2 years.

We welcome the Year of the OX & Tiger!
Learn about the OneLaptop per Child (OLPC)

We took the XO laptop for a tram ride in Hong Kong from Western all the day to Causeway Bay. We tested the wireless connection while on the move and see if the mesh network could work. The OXs has difficulties updating the connections and the number of available wireless routers is confusing to the OXs when it needs to be updated continuously!!

More importantly we took the opportunity to welcome the Year of the OX!!

Welcome Tiger OX

Happy Year of the Tiger

HcUG is the acronym for HK computer User Group. It was a self-help group for people with disabilities in the late 80s for sharing and empowerment of individuals who have various disabilities.

In 2010 I am activating HcUG spirit to serve a more generic purpose. Computing is about Digital Life and learning together can be empowering for the young, old or disabled.

Join us on Feb 27, 2010 for a HcuG@Meet2Learn session. Free tiger HcUG as we celebrate Year of the Tiger!

We ran our first Meet2Learn session in October 2007. Read about this first ever event in Hong Kong to celebrate the life of the late singer and humanitarian Mr. John Denver.

Planning is underway for another  meeting in October 2010. Announcement will be made in due course.
